Amy has the intuitive knowledge of a true yogi, and this shows in her teaching and her relationship to everyone around her. She is not complacent to teach based only on the basic foundations of the art, but constantly and consistently builds on that foundation, so that her teaching is like a many-roomed house with new understandings in each room. She brings more than just understanding to the student, but a sense of true yearning for the fruits of the practice.

Recently, while enjoying my other love, rock climbing, I found myself in a
particularly difficult spot with the next rock quite far away from me. In my
head, I knew I could make the move to the next rock, but I was fearful
because it was a new challenge for me. As I clung to the rock, I remembered
what I've learned in yoga - how deep breathing, relaxing, and letting go of
fear always helps me to stretch into a posture much farther than I think I
am able. Sure enough, when I deepened my breath, relaxed, and let go of my
fear, I reached that seemingly faraway rock with ease! What I've learned at
Yoga Sanctuary has given me invaluable insight into yoga on and off the mat.

I have been trying to formulate some kind of email to thank you for
Wednesday morning's class. I had been in so much pain and had been wearing
a back brace right up until I walked into class. The pain was gripping and
took my breath away at times. For 3 weeks I have been taking care of
myself, but tending to others and just not thinking about doing for myself.
Your class put things into perspective for me and now I am getting up to do
yoga in the morning. I am eating less, walking for an hour and doing a
small series of postures before bed. I really thought I would have to leave
class since I was in so much pain but since that class, I have not had any
of the problems I came in with. I know you really did a whole lower back
series for me and I do appreciate it. My back thanks you too! You are
truly a gem.

The yoga class last Thursday was great. I got so emotional when we began the centering. The last time I did a centering with your class I remembered
being depressed and thinking that I would never be pregnant. And this time I
began the centering with the gratitude of knowing that I have been blessed
with two beautiful little souls who were at home waiting for me. I am so
thankful. This is the first time that I can remember feeling at peace with
where I am in my life. It just finally feels "right". And I could never have
gotten through the labor and delivery without my experience with yoga and
meditative breathing techniques. I felt so empowered throughout the whole
birthing experience, which was wonderful.
